TAKING THE CITY ON TWO WHEELS

Last year, we spent a weekend in Barcelona. After a night out with too many beers and too few tapas, we simply had no more energy to shuffle along the city’s streets flitting from sight to sight the next day. Said and done, we just boarded a hop-on, hop-off bus and travelled around the city. At the end, we felt sick anyway and would’ve preferred to explore the city at our own pace.

As a visitor to Vienna, you almost habitually use public transport to get from A to B, you walk, you take a taxi or the mentioned sightseeing bus line. But there’s an alternative to bicycle rental services, public transport and car sharing services: now, there’s an option for motorcycle enthusiasts visiting the city, to explore the imperial Habsburg city on two motorised wheels. Mo2drive is a scooter rental service in Vienna which allows you to rent iconic Vespas throughout the city. A mobile app will let you locate a scooter in the city and unlock it easily through your smartphone. Then, there’s nothing stopping you from exploring the city on two wheels, avoiding traffic jams and overcrowded trams and buses.

We would’ve liked a similar service to discover the city on a motorbike during our stay in Barcelona – the wind in our face, experiencing the pace of the metropole and feeling like being part of the city you’re only visiting for a few days. Actually, anyone on a city break wishes for that: getting to know and seeing the city from the perspective of a local. However, it doesn’t quite work this way. At least in terms of travelling in Vienna, Mo2drive makes you feel at home a little bit more.

For people living in Vienna, getting annoyed by traffic jams or people in the tram who forgot to put on deodorant or munch a smelly kebab: try Mo2drive – maybe it’s the alternative you’ve been looking for the whole time :-)

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN PT.3 - COUNTRY HATTRICK ON THE MOTORBIKE

Published by GINA DREWES at November 16, 2018 in Tours
Carinthia is the southernmost province of Austria and I grew up here. The borders to Italy and Slovenia are a stone's throw away and so I spent a part of my childhood at the sea. However it also felt like years in the car, since my mum made the country roads unsafe with her green lame duck at that time. What always led to bare nerves of all fellow travellers and could only be made good again with a visit to...

(Stubai) - Brenner Pass - Jaufen Pass - ( Val Passiria - Vinschgau) - Stilfser Joch - Gaviapass (what a rough, beautiful pass!) - Tonale Pass - (Val du Nons) Mendel Pass - (Bolzano - Sarntal) - Penserjoch: This 'classic' round is impressive and spectacular again and again. The weather was wonderful on this Saturday, so I spontaneously decided to go for a ride early in the morning. An 'Iron Man' stage at the beginning of autumn - a demanding and strenuous one-day trip.

I arrived with the ferry from Livorno. The crossing takes about 6 hours and I arrive on the island at about 18 o'clock. I had underestimated the journey from Olbia to the small village Bitti, for the 90 kilometers I am on the motorcycle for more than two hours. Since I'm already late, I enjoy the ride and the wind...

I AM THE DANGER! IMPRESSION OF A MOPED TRIP ON BALI

Published by MAX BRUSTBAUER at August 29, 2018 in Tours
'It's dangerous you say? ... I AM THE DANGER!' But the understanding laugh does not come and also my girlfriend does not find me funny. 'Excuse me. I am tedesco.' No, I can't save anything with that either, I'd better shut up. To ride a moped in Bali you don't need a driving license and obviously no humour...
